This can be read as a stand alone story.

Mase Colton has worked for years in the harsh unforgiving environment of the Moon building Tycho City. Now, with the completion of the Farside observatory complex, a deadly danger to the Moon and Earth has been discovered. A neutron star is about to enter the solar system.

Can Mase Colton and his counterpart, Steve Larson on the Star One space station, find a way to preserve a small segment of humanity against this deadly danger? It's a race against time and the politicians on Earth who refuse to believe in the approaching neutron star as they struggle to save the human race.

On Earth, fighting breaks out as the neutron star nears and chaos spreads across the globe. Lieutenant Trace Lewis will do whatever it takes to ensure his family survives the calamity. However, even his marine training hasn't prepared him for what's coming.

This book contains an expanded version of Tycho City Discovery as well as Tycho City Survival.

Star One Tycho City Survival eBook Raymond L Weil Frank MacDonald

I have to say that I am surprised how much I liked this book. Not that I expected the book to be bad as such. Especially not given this writers track record and how much I have liked his works so far but due to the fact that this book is basically telling the same story as Star One: Dark Star but from the perspective of the Tycho City base on the moon instead of the Star One space station.

I decided to read this book because I have liked all other works from this author and I also wanted to have read the complete series. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. I did not really think that I would enjoy the book this much.

The author have quite skillfully managed to write a book that, even though you basically knows what is going to happen, makes you want to continue reading. Yes the book involves events that takes place in the previous books in the series but they are only briefly mentioned in this book. Instead it focuses on the preparations not only of the Tycho City base but also of the people in the shelters down on Earth.

The book also goes a bit further than the previous books which basically ended as soon as Star One had encountered the neutron star and the black hole it is circling. In this book we get to follow the survivors all the way until the neutron star have finally left our solar system.

The book is a quite enjoyable read indeed. At the end there is a, not too surprising, tie in to the ending of the previous book in the series. I certainly hope that the author will make a continuation of these two books because I for one will pick up the next book if one is published.

Star One Tycho City Survival eBook Raymond L Weil Frank MacDonald Reviews

Makes me wonder if many years ago this same thing didn't happen on Mars and those underground just never developed the technology to come out. Could they have been there the whole time e and we didn't know it??
It helped answer some question that I had after reading Dark Star, for that reason it should have been book four instead of a stand alone book, as he describes it. The first five chapters in Survival are the same as the story Discover. It also refers to books Neutron Star and Dark Star, so you should read them first. It was interesting to see what was going on on Earth and the Moon during the passing of the neutron star past earth. I think the books would have blended better if he written them as a set of four instead of three.
I enjoyed this. A little slow at the beginning and I find the different perspectives or point of view of different characters in the same scene to be distracting. That improved some as book progressed. Otherwise good story, with relatively few typos- a big plus in my opinion
I enjoy reading Mr. Weil's books. I started with his Slaver Wars Moon Wreck and have read most of that series and came across Star One and switched over to it. I had hoped to find a continuation of the story after the Star One space station returns but haven't seen it yet. Hopefully he will continue with the Star One series.
It is easy to read and you soon identify with the characters, their personalities, their interests and relationships. I would really love to see this series continue evolving as the three colonies grow together and start traveling into space. The characters personalities are terrific and work great together. Thank you.
This book had a great, if not shocking concept. I love fiction that could actually be real. The author developed the plot and characters in a way that made their struggles something I could relate too. The issue (don't want to spoil it) arose in a real way. In a what the heck is that moment. Worth the $4.
Tycho City Survival is an excellent recap of the 5 star rated Neutron Star and Dark Star works told from a different perspective plus including the perils of Earth post disaster. I, for one, look forward the a continuation of this epic saga. Most space operas are about high-tech warfare with unbelievable aliens. Star One is a refreshing departure instead capturing humanity's survival instincts. interesting subjects going forward would be what type of human government will evolve plus the impact or insights religious beliefs will transpire given their experiences. More character development, philosophical and technical challenges, would truly propel the Star One series to the top of all us sci-fi addict's list. Go for it Raymond....And Quick!
